People quantify happiness in different ways; for some, maybe it's the number of steps logged on your Fitbit. For others, maybe it's their number of Facebook friends or Twitter followers. For me, my happy number is 49 million - the approximate number of bubbles in a bottle of Champagne.

These days Champagne prices can put a damper on any celebration, but don't put the party hats away just yet. Some Canadian winemakers are in the unique position of being able to compete with France when it comes to making world-class bubbly, often at a more affordable price. Here's a look at three Canadian sparkling wines I recommend you pop open at your next celebration.

Blue Mountain Reserve Brut, British Columbia

Henry of Pelham Cuvée Catharine Brut, Ontario

Benjamin Bridge Rosé, Nova Scotia
