Holiday Hostess Ideas

Wine and Chocolate Party

I recently had the opportunity to offer a Wine & Chocolate Party at a customer's home. It's not something I normally do, but I am so glad I did! Each year, these awesome hostesses put on what they call a "Tea Party" for their girlfriends. "Tea Party" is a little bit of joke...there's no actual tea served. Just wine. Lots of wine Lol And this year, lots of chocolate, too!

Their decoration theme was all natural and all elegant. Shades of brown, wood platters for macarons with faux wood charcuterie platters and rosemary wreaths at each place setting! Gold accents were used to add a little glam to their indoor woodsy feel.

I was so impressed with the hors d'oeuvres at the Tea Party that I'm sharing some of their ideas with you! Here are my top five favourites:

Garlic Parmesan Dip

8 oz cream cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
1/3 cup shredded parm cheese
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Mix and serve with your favourite chips. We love the Sunterra pita chips!
The parm dip was definitely my favourite, but a close second was the asparagus wrapped in fontina cheese and prosciutto. To make this crowd pleaser, just wrap the asparagus with the cheese and prosciutto, then bake for 10 minutes at 450 degrees. Let cool and serve!

And what about this easy favourite? Top a cracker with your favourite blue cheese and strawberry then drizzled in honey! If blue cheese isn't your favourite, try using Borgonzola cheese. A hybrid of Gorgonzola and brie, it's like blue cheese with training wheels!

Another surprising combination of flavours is watermelon topped with balsamic reduction and a tiny mint leaf for a hint of freshness and flavour.

Panna cotta has always been one of my favourite desserts. Theirs was particularly delicious dressed with their homemade blueberry, raspberry and blackberry compote.

I hope you get the opportunity to try all of these recipes this holiday season. If you have any favourite holiday appetizers, please share them with us here!
